Austin ISD serves more than 80,000 students at a budget of $800 million dollars. Almost six-thousand teachers are employed by the district, along with five-thousand additional support staff and professional administrators. This makes Austin ISD one of the largest employers in central Texas. Average teacher salary is $43,000. Austin ISD has continued to grow, and currently has 76 elementary schools, 17 middle schools, 12 high schools, and 5 special campuses. As the central Texas population continues to explode, additional facilities will be built. A 2004 bond package has helped renovate existing schools and provide extra on-campus security. Austin taxpayers have invested almost a billion dollars into AISD facilities, land, and other properties. It's almost impossible to drive more than ten minutes in Austin without coming across a school or other AISD facility.
About seven-thousand students are enrolled in Eanes ISD, which includes parts of Austin, Westlake Hills, and Rollingwood. Eanes is proud of their high level of parent involvement and .1% drop-out rate. There are nine schools in Eanes ISD, and the average teacher has more than 14 years experience. Eanes students consistently earn some of the highest possible scores on the state-mandated TAKS test, and also score better than the national average on the SATs.
Lake Travis ISD serves residents of the Lake Travis area, which is about 20 miles west of Austin proper. In 2006, the district celebrated 25 years of educating Lake Travis students. Almost 6000 students are enrolled in Lake Travis' 8 schools.
Round Rock ISD covers southern Williamson County, northwest Travis County, and includes Round Rock, parts of Austin and Cedar Park. Round Rock ISD serves 110 square miles that includes high tech manufacturing, urban retail, suburban neighborhoods, and rural areas. Round Rock ISD consists of four high schools, eight middle schools, and 27 elementary schools. Enrollment has increased 21% in the past five years and yearly growth is expected at 3.5%. Round Rock ISD campuses are designed to be the anchor of neighborhoods. The dropout rate is .4%, and more than 85% of graduating seniors take college entrance exams. Across the board, Round Rock students score higher than the national averages on standardized tests.
Success in Leander ISD is measured by parent and community involvement. 25,000 students are enrolled in Leander ISD schools, and the district has quickly become one of finest school districts in Central Texas. Several new schools are currently under construction, and Leander ISD is prepared for the growing population of the Texas hill country.
Nestled just north of Austin, Pflugerville is home to twenty-thousand students. The goal of Pflugerville ISD to provide quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. Pflugerville students score higher than the state/national averages on standardized tests. The entire district has received an "acceptable" rating, while 8 campuses are proud to be recognized by the federal Adequate Yearly Progress system.
The Del Valle ISD serves students in Southeast Travis County who live in Austin, Garfield, Creedmoor, Mustange Ridge, Elroy, Pilot Knob, Webberville, and Honsby Bend.
