Austin's Onion Creek Neighborhood
Austin's Onion Creek is an oasis of tall pecan, cypress, and live oak trees tucked south on IH -35 at exit number 225 toward Onion Creek Parkway. Simply make a left after exiting IH-35 and you will arrive at Onion Creek's main entrance. Onion Creek was built in 1974 as an ideal community for retirees and expanding families who cherish peace and quiet away from the bustle of Downtown Austin. If you can enjoy swinging from a hammock while sipping tea or strolling through the neighborhood as the wind rustles through the sturdy, aged trees, then Onion Creek is a perfect fit.
Onion Creek real estate owners are mostly retirees and large families, which the community caters to. The Onion Creek Home Owners Association provides 24-hour private security, street lighting, trash pick-up, and landscape maintenance. Onion Creek churches include St. Albans Episcopal, Manchaca United Methodist and Manchaca Southern Baptist. Grocery shopping is located in several shopping centers near William Cannon, just a few minutes north of Onion Creek Club, the community's private country club. Onion Creek real estate owners socialize at Onion Creek Club, membership to the club provides access to a junior Olympic sized pool, tennis courts, a fitness center and 27-hole golf course.
