Austin's Eanes Independent School District
Eanes Independent School District is located within the Austin, Texas, suburb of Westlake Hills. Eanes ISD is consistently ranked among the highest performing school districts in both the state of Texas and the United States. Current Eanes ISD enrollment is 7,230 students spread amongst six elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. Eanes Independent School District teacher experience is also highly rated. Sixty percent of Eanes ISD teachers have taught for ten or more years, and 40 percent of Eanes ISD faculty have postgraduate degrees.
Eanes ISD High Schools
Westlake High School is the only high school within Eanes ISD and has an enrollment of 2,400 students. Westlake High is a U.S. Blue Ribbon School and has won the Texas Successful Schools Award for Outstanding Performance. Westlake was rated as a Recognized school by the Texas Education Agency in the 2006 ratings.
Westlake High School is well-known around Austin for its academics. Westlake was ranked 72nd in the Newsweek Magazine's 2006 list of the nation's top schools and the AP Physics program was recognized as the best in the world by the College Board in 2005, earning recognition for the physics teachers by the Texas legislature. Over 90 percent of Westlake graduating seniors continue on to college.
Westlake High School students are also gifted in the fine arts. Both visual and musical arts are well practiced throughout Westlake in classes such as: Multimedia Animation, Ceramics, Photojournalism, Orchestra, Band, Choir, Theatre and Technical Theatre. The Westlake High School news magazine, "The Featherduster" was ranked second in the nation in Spring 2005, and is known for reporting controversial issues.
Eanes ISD also provides an extremely rich athletic program at Westlake High School. Westlake has won 26 state championships in 9 different sports. In addition to winning state championships, Westlake's football team holds a national record of 71 consecutive district victories. Westlake High School's volleyball team has qualified for the playoffs for the past 20 years, won six regional championships and four state championships.Eanes ISD Middle Schools
Like Westlake High School, Eanes ISD has two high-performing middle schools. Hill Country Middle School is a U.S. Blue Ribbon School and has won the Texas Successful Schools Award for Outstanding Performance. Hill Country has an enrollment of 850 students. The Hill Country Middle School Band is a Nationally Recognized Band that is performing in Chicago for the Midwest Clinic in December 2006. Hill Country Middle School was rated as an Exemplary school by the Texas Education Agency in the 2006 ratings.
West Ridge Middle School is a U.S. Blue Ribbon School and has won the Texas Successful Schools Award for Outstanding Performance. West Ridge has an enrollment of 890 students. West Ridge Middle School was rated as an Exemplary school by the Texas Education Agency in the 2006 ratings.
Eanes ISD Elementary Schools
Barton Creek Elementary was rated as an Exemplary school by the Texas Education Agency in the 2006 ratings. Bridge Point Elementary was rated as an Exemplary school by the Texas Education Agency in 2006 ratings. Cedar Creek Elementary was rated as an Exemplary school in the 2006 TEA ratings. Eanes Elementary was chosen as a U.S. Blue Ribbon school in 2005, and was rated as an Exemplary school by the Texas Education Agency in the 2006 ratings. Forest Trail Elementary was rated as an Exemplary school by the Texas Education Agency in 2006 ratings. Valley View Elementary was rated as an Exemplary school by the Texas Education Agency in the 2006 ratings.
